N.01

Will there be a free version or a free trial?

Yes, both, at public launch.

The free version runs the core dictation flow (hotkey, transcribe, insert) with a limited feature set. Use it as long as you want, no time limit, no card required. If you outgrow it, upgrade once and you're done.

The free trial unlocks the full app: every feature, every model, every preset, for a fixed window after install. When the trial ends, you decide: buy a license, or drop back to the free version. Your settings and dictionary stay.

Either path, no subscription. You pay once or you don't pay at all.

How can you afford to charge once?

Three reasons. Low overhead: Auris is a small indie team, not a venture-backed company that needs to grow into a billion-dollar valuation. No per-user infrastructure: BYOK means your AI provider runs the expensive part, so we don't pay for your compute. Software lives on your machine: we're not paying for servers that sit between you and the model. The price covers the build, the polish, and lifetime updates. We don't need a subscription to keep the lights on.

What does "lifetime updates" mean?

Every update. Forever. One purchase covers every future version at no extra charge.

Can I switch tiers?

The Student tier requires a .edu email at purchase. The Team tier can be upgraded for more seats at any time. The Founder tier just refers to the price you paid at launch.

What payment methods?

Do you offer purchase orders or invoicing?

What about education or non-profit discounts beyond the Student tier?

The Student tier covers verified students. For other education or non-profit use, the regular Lifetime price applies. Volume discounts kick in at the Team tier.

What happens to my license if I switch computers?

The license follows you. Install on a new machine, enter your license key, you're back in.
