Terms

Plain terms. No surprises.

These are the terms of use for Auris, the voice-to-text app for Mac and Windows. We've kept them short because the product itself is straightforward: you buy a license, you install the app, your data stays on your machine.

Last updated: 2026-05-20

1. What you're buying

A perpetual license to use Auris on your own machines. The Lifetime tiers (Founder, Standard, Student) cover a single user on any number of personal devices. The Team Self-Hosted tier covers the number of seats you purchase, used within a single organization. The price is one-time. Future updates are included for the life of the product.

2. What we provide

The Auris application, all bug fixes, all feature updates, and reasonable email support at hello@auris.talk. Support is best-effort during normal business hours.

3. What we don't do

See the privacy page for the architectural reasons.

4. Your responsibilities

5. Refunds

30 days from purchase, no questions asked. Reply to the receipt email with the word "refund" and we'll process it within 24 hours. You don't have to explain why. We'd appreciate a sentence about what didn't work, but it's not a condition.

6. License transfer

The license is yours to keep, gift, or transfer to one other person. Sell it, hand it down, or recover it after a machine change. Email us when you transfer so we can update the contact email on the license record.

7. Limitation of liability

Auris is provided as-is. While we test thoroughly, software has bugs. We're not liable for indirect damages (lost productivity, lost dictation, etc.) arising from app behavior. The maximum liability is bounded by the price you paid for the license.

8. Changes to these terms

If we update these terms in a way that materially affects your use, we'll email license holders at the address on file. Continued use after a notified change constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the seller's place of business. Disputes are resolved by good-faith conversation first; courts second. We're an indie team; we'd rather fix the problem than fight about it.
