Closed beta · Public launch TBD
Privacy

We don't have servers.

That's the short version.
Auris stores no audio and no transcripts.
Here's exactly how the architecture works.

0
Privacy · in local mode

data leaves your machine.

Run Whisper locally for transcription, Ollama (or any local LLM) for polish. Outbound network traffic is empty. No telemetry, no analytics, no error reporting, no update pings, no model-training payloads. Pull the network cable. It still works.

0 servers 0 accounts 0 telemetry 0 analytics 0 crash reports
Flow

What happens when you dictate.

01 · You

Hold the hotkey.

Your microphone, your machine. Audio captured locally.

02 · Transcribe

Auris transcribes.

Speech-to-text runs locally by default. Cloud goes to Groq, never us.

03 · Polish

Your provider.

Transcript goes to your LLM of choice for polish. Auris never sees it.

04 · Result

Clean text lands.

Polished result lands in the window you started in.

Auris Data Flow board showing microphone open only while recording, audio routed to Groq Cloud (whisper-large-v3-turbo), and transcript routed to Anthropic Cloud (claude-haiku-4-5), with a note to toggle the lock icon to force everything local
Setup

Your speech goes one of two places.

Pick one when you set Auris up. Switch any time. Both work the same from your side. The difference is whether anything touches a network.
Cloud · your own account

Through your API key.

The polish step runs through your account at OpenAI, Anthropic, or Groq. Your transcript (and audio, if you also chose cloud speech-to-text) goes from your machine to the provider you chose, then back.

Auris never sees it.
The provider's privacy policy applies to that hop. Speech-to-text can independently be set to local, in which case audio never leaves your machine even on this path.

Cost · most people pay $2 to $4/month
Local · no internet needed

On your machine.

The polish step runs locally through Ollama, LM Studio, or any compatible local server. Nothing leaves your computer.

No API calls. No network. Works on a plane.

Or skip the LLM entirely. Auris ships with built-in rules-based polish. Capitalization, spacing, and common fixes. Lighter touch than an LLM, but it works with zero setup and zero dependencies.

Cost · $0 in API fees
Storage

What lives where.

Three places data could live.
Two of them store almost nothing. The third stores nothing at all.
01 · On your machine

What stays with you.

  • Dictation history
  • Custom rules
  • Dictionary additions
  • Snippets & settings

All as files on your machine.
Delete any of it whenever.

02 · On Auris's side

What we keep.

  • Your email
  • Your license key

That's what we need to send you the license and let you know when there's a meaningful update. Unsubscribe any time with one click.

03 · Nowhere

What no one keeps.

  • Your audio
  • Your transcripts
  • Your edits
  • Your vocabulary

No copy. No backup. No analytics.

Sensitive

Sensitive content stays out of your history.

Auris ships with four built-in patterns. When you dictate something that matches, the value lands in the app you're typing in, but doesn't get saved to your transcript history.
Email

Anything matching an email pattern.
Never saved to your transcript history.

Phone

US and international phone numbers. Lands in the app, never in history.

SSN

Social Security Numbers.
Used in the moment, not stored.

Credit card

16-digit card numbers, all major schemes. Typed once, gone after.

How redaction works. Patterns match locally after the transcript returns, so cloud STT or cloud LLM polish sees unredacted content first; only your local history gets filtered. Add your own regex for company IDs, project codes, anything else. Pre-send redaction for cloud paths is on the roadmap.

Guarantees

What we stand behind.

Four claims, four proofs.
No marketing fluff, no buzzwords.

On-Device Audio

Local Whisper keeps audio on-device. Bytes opened, processed, discarded in RAM. If you choose cloud STT (Groq, etc.), audio goes to the provider only.

No Telemetry

Zero analytics, zero crash reports, zero usage stats. No opt-out switch because there's nothing to opt out of.

BYOK or Local

Bring your Anthropic, OpenAI, or Groq key. Or run a local LLM for full privacy. Auris never proxies your keys.

Open Formats

Memos as .md, history as .jsonl, dictionary as .json. Nothing locked inside a proprietary archive.

Your rights

Your data.
Your purchase.

01 · Your data

Yours alone.

Memos, dictations, and the dictionary live on your machine. Take them, move them, copy them, delete them. Nothing is locked inside Auris.

02 · Your purchase

Now and forever.

Your license is yours, now and forever. There's no server-side check that can turn it off, because there is no server. Keep it, transfer it, your choice.

FAQ

Questions

N.01

Do you sell or share data with anyone?

No. We don't have audio or transcript data to sell, and the email we hold for licensing isn't shared.

N.02

Where is my email stored?

In our customer database (Stripe for billing, a standard email provider for product updates).
Request deletion any time at hello@auris.talk.

N.03

Is Auris GDPR-compliant?

The architecture makes most of GDPR easy. We don't process audio. We don't store transcripts. The data we do hold (email, license key) is subject to standard subject-access and deletion requests.
Email hello@auris.talk to request either.

N.04

Can I see what's in my local history file?

Yes. Use the in-app History tab to view, edit, or delete entries.

N.05

What about telemetry or crash reports?

No automatic crash reports. Internal diagnostics live in Settings → Diagnostics. Review them on your machine, send them to us manually if you'd like our help. Never sent without your action.

N.06

What about the waitlist email forms on this site?

The marketing site uses a third-party form service for the launch waitlist email captures, so those emails route through that provider before reaching us. The Auris app itself routes nothing through us, ever. Different rules for the brochure than for the product.
